Bass Reeves statue dedication January 11, 2025

Sculptor Joel Randell and Muskogee Area Art's Council member, Ann Barker Ong

On Saturday, January 11, 2025, we dedicated a statue of U.S. Deputy Marshal and Muskogee Policeman, Bass Reeves.
The Sculptor, Joel Randall made the statue to show Reeves walking a wood-plank sidewalk, with a Billy club in hand. At night, the lights shine in a way that makes it look like Reeves is really walking!
 Bass wasn’t only a U.S. deputy marshal; he spent the last couple of years of his life as a Muskogee policeman.  
Reeves spent 32 years as a U.S.  Deputy Marshal in Indian Territory before retiring to become a Muskogee Police officer in 1907.
Many people come to Three Rivers just to see the Bass Reeves Exhibit both inside and outside of the museum.
